Back in 1997, a man named David bought a black cat, not knowing that he would one day have marbled fur. His owner recalls the moment he met the cat: “Scrappy was sitting alone, and although he was a beautiful cat, we didn’t think others would think he was as cute as his brothers and sisters. I made the decision to take Scrappy because I knew he would be the last one taken, if ever,” David told MeowBox.
The cat’s fur began to turn white when he was 7 years old. This is most likely due to vitiligo, a genetic mutation that is extremely rare in cats. This does not affect the kitten’s health in any way, and the 19-year-old black and white cat is happy, healthy and just kicking ass! Yeah, that’s where his name comes from: “Despite his age, he [scavenges scraps] with the neighborhood cats… I guess you could say he rules the street.”
The owner added: “Scrappy is a true diva! He’s not the best cat to photograph as most of the time he looks the other way or walks away… He can also be quite grumpy at times.” However, the guy loves his pet and says that Scrappy is very affectionate to him. David is the only person who can rub Scrappy’s belly, and seeing how handsome the grumpy “Norse God” cat is, we couldn’t be more jealous!
