Wild animals deserve a normal life. In other words, they must live in the jungle where they belong. They may face dangers and dangers (natural or predatory) but they can live with their innate nature. That’s how wonderful animals should be.
Unfortunately, some people deliberately do not understand this. They keep wild animals in cages and abuse them physically and mentally. They turn them into domestic animals for shameful commercial purposes.
This is the case with Mickey the Cougar. The grieving wild cat has been caged for years in the backyard of an Alabama zoo. It slowly loses its thirst for life. Fortunately, Big Cat Rescue spotted him and rescued him from this terrible place.
When rescue workers arrived to rescue Cougar, they discovered the zoo was operating without a license. Its USDA license was revoked in 2006. They later found out that the woman running the zoo was feeding foreign cats like domestic dogs. This is very cruel to wild animals!
Staff rushed Mickey to a Tampa-based rescue organization. Poor Cougar was in severe pain, both physically and mentally. He was weak with rotten teeth and legs. After a medical examination, veterinarians found that his legs had ruptured ACLs, making it difficult for him to stand.
Not to be outdone, experts determined that Cougar’s knees were damaged, leaving no reins or cartilage at all. It broke the staff’s heart to think what Mickey had gone through.
But rescuers did not give up. He worked with doctors on Mickey’s surgery. They all hoped to give poor animals a second chance at life. Doctors used artificial bridles to stabilize Mickey’s knee and help him learn how to walk again with physical therapy.
He’s never been able to walk completely, but he’s doing an incredibly good job, and he’s able to walk on his own, “said one doctor. Are able to give a home. “
